The Benefits of an Online Reading Club
As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisper, many of us seek warmth, comfort, and a sense of togetherness. This is where the Danish concept of “hygge” comes into play. Hygge is a feeling of coziness, contentment, and well-being, often associated with the autumn and winter months. I love this concept- it’s like the human method of hibernating which is what the seasons teach us. In order for us to bloom, it’s equally important for us to cocoon and rest and come within ourselves. And what better way to embrace hygge season than by joining an online reading club?
Hygge Haven was created as one such initiative- a short and snappy way to hold us to account on finally doing something about the niggling feeling of “wanting to get back into reading!” Each session is only 30 minutes, with scheduled reading time, as well as goal setting for how much we want to read before the next session. At least once a month, we’ll switch things up by hosting an in-person meet-up at a location that’s suitable for most (as well as inviting in our distant readers in a hybrid format of course).
